On the radio, firefighters could be heard getting into position, identifying their safe areas, watching the progression and describing the approaching fire front. The department had long had plans in place for exactly this type of event, and knew where to place firefighters.  About one hour after the mandatory evacuation was ordered, a call came over the radio: "All companies on Riker's division. Be advised. Fire's coming."  The storm had arrived.  "All companies on Command 6," Riker called out. "We are leaving the area. I repeat. Our fallback position is Chipeta (Elementary). We are leaving the area. Pull out now. ... All units. Bug out now."  - Denver Post
